Well-known YouTuber mocks BLACKPINK in a parody of ‘Shut Down’

Becoming one of the biggest K-Pop groups in the world, BLACKPINK has received both love and praise as well as hate and criticism. BLINK recently flagged the TwoSet Violin YouTube channel for allegedly “bullying” the girl group.

The musical comedy duo, made up of Australian violinists Brett Yang and Eddy Chen, released a video for a song titled “Sell Out,” where it parodies and makes references to BLACKPINK and the K-Pop industry.

The parody begins by using Niccolò Paganini‘s famous piece “La Campanella“, as it was used in the K-Pop girl group’s “Shut Down“. At first the video seems to focus on an artist gaining fame but his songs end up sounding the same.

Then, he mentioned some “K-Pop Queens“, and later a verse said “You better think twice“, which could be a reference to the K-Pop girl group, TWICE.

He also referred to “brand deals“, which could mean criticism of the luxurious brands of which the members of BLACKPINK are ambassadors. On the other hand, it also had references to Lisa‘s solo song “Money

Although many netizens explained that it was a “parody“, BLINK claims that it is disrespectful towards the group and that the lyrics are “misogynistic“.

In another sense, many claim that the idea of the song is along the lines of “shame on art“, and is aimed at the K-Pop industry in general and not BLACKPINK.
