A couple fans from the Korean septet BTS have shown their support for the situation of the artists, not with a motivation message, but by totally balding their heads. Here’s what we know.
The trend started through social media right after the announcement of BTS’ managers, confirming that the seven members would fulfill their duty in the military service, as it’s mandatory in South Korea. There are divided reactions from the internet users, that just watch in awe how some fans have already run a razor shaver through their hairline, all in honor of their favorite singers.
The disapproval of most of the fans didn’t stop some of the bravest ones who actually went ahead and got rid of their hairline to show off their particular way of support..
The whole reason behind the trend is that, in the South Korean militia, just as every country’s, dictates that every active member must have a “military” hairstyle, which, in most cases, consists of a totally shaved head. The BTS members will probably have to go bald as well, for as long as they stay in the national force. So, by balding their heads, the fans show their commitment to the artists.
This is not the first time that this has happened, some years ago, there was a false rumor that the Mexican singer, Mario Bautista, would have been diagnosed with cancer, and would have lost all of his hair in the treatment. In honor of the singer, many fans went bald to show their support, and posted a selfie online with the hashtag #MeRapoPorMarioBautista, which translate to “I go bald for Mario Bautista”. A few hours later, it was revealed that the singer did not have cancer, and that he still had his hairline, intact, ridiculing many young girls who participated in the trend.
This is a very similar situation; the difference is that BTS will in fact go to the military forces and will go bald most likely, it’s not a malicious rumor. For more details, we have an explaining the whole situation about the military service that BTS will go through.
