Mexican filmmaker Jonás Cuarón, son of fellow film director Alfonso Cuarón, will direct Marvel’s new movie, ‘El Muerto’, which will star Bad Bunny.
According to an international media, Jonás Cuarón confirmed his participation in the Marvel film, which will be produced by Sony, although the production is currently in the pre-production phase, ‘The Dead’ is expected to hit theaters on January 12, 2024.
Recall that the production house Sony has the rights to Spiderman, so it can make movies with the characters that came out in the Spider-Man comics, although this complicates that the film will be placed on the Disney Plus streaming platform.
The character of ‘El Muerto’, whose real name is Juan Carlos Estrada Sánchez, has an incredible strength that resides in his wrestler’s mask, which has been inherited by generations in his family.
In some comic book he even fought against Spiderman and almost took his mask off, while on another occasion they fought together against the villain ‘El Dorado’.
It is worth noting that Bad Bunny will be the first Latino to star in a Marvel movie, only after Oscar Isaac was the first Latino to star in a Marvel series, which was released on the Disney platform.
However, Disney has increasingly sought to include Latino actors in its productions, resulting in the participation of Mexicans such as Salma Hayek and Tenoch Huerta in its productions.
For his part, Jonás Cuarón made his film debut with the immigration thriller ‘Desierto’, which starred Gael García Bernal, and won the critics’ award at the 2015 Toronto Film Festival. He also participated as a screenwriter in projects such as ‘Gravity’, a film by his father Alfonso Cuarón
