Billy Idol is one of the most complete artists we know, as well as admired and varied. It’s no lie that Idol is returning to music and fans are excited.
Musician Billy Idol, well known for being part of the classic punk band “Chelsea,” is about to return to the music world.
Starting on September 23rd, Billy will release his new production “The Cage“, which in EP format, will be powered by Dark Horse Records, a label initially created in 1974 by George Harrison and now run by Dhani Harrison and David Zonshine.
“This EP is a lot more straight-ahead, a lot more guitar, and that’s a lot of fun.
We were really excited about the fact that we hadn’t played for a couple of years, and suddenly we were blowing up on stage, and that got us thinking about what the next EP could be: that it could be a bit more ‘sturm und drang’, a bit more direct, a bit more rock’n’roll, a bit more f*ck you! Well, a little bit of f*ck you, in any case.
The important thing is that we had a lot of fun doing it,” said Billy Idol.
As well as their new EP and having “Cage” as the opening single, this song will be accompanied by its music video, which was directed by Steven Sebring who has worked with musicians such as Patti Smith and Jack White.
“Coming out of the forties, people had a lot of pent-up energy.
That was the inspiration for ‘Cage.’ To get out there and do the things we were missing. And that included not being afraid to make a raucous punk rock song like ‘Cage’.
CAnd we didn’t worry about whether it fit anywhere because it just sounds so Billy,” said co-producer Tommy English (Kacey Musgraves, BØRNS), who also co-wrote three of the album’s tracks with Idol, Stevens and Joe Janiak (Ellie Goulding, Adam Lambert).
