Upon reaching their 10th anniversary, SNSD went through the contract renewal stage with SM Entertainment, one of the famous ‘Big 3‘ of K-Pop. In October 2017, it was reported that Tiffany, Sooyoung, and Seohyun decided to change companies; however, they emphasized that Girls’ Generation was not disbanding.
During the five years, the girl band members gave priority to their activities as soloists or in the world of acting. In 2018, the subunit “Girls’ Generation-Oh!GG” was formed with the five members who are still a part of SM and released the single “Lil’ touch”.
Due to personal projects and being in different agencies, coordinating the promotion of a comeback is more difficult.
However, after several attempts and rumors, the full return will take place in 2022, August 8.
