On July 19, a ceremony was held to officially announce that BTS would be the honorary ambassador of the upcoming Busan World Expo 2030. The ceremony took place at the HYBE building, where the nomination committee went to present plaques to each of the seven BTS members as honorary ambassadors.
As ambassadors of Busan World Expo 2030, BTS will work to promote Korean culture, starting with a world concert to be held in Busan next October.
During the ceremony, a live broadcast was held where fans from around the world could tune in to watch BTS officially become ambassadors of Busan World Expo 2030. However, many fans could not help but criticize the officials and politicians for their rude treatment of the members.

Many pointed out that when each of the members came forward to receive their individual plaque, the officials posed for a photo by raising the members’ arms without warning. As a result, members’ arms were raised and twisted at an odd angle.
In the shared photos, members can be seen feeling uncomfortable as they did not expect their arms to be awkwardly raised in the air. Especially V, who seemed surprised by the sudden action and even stared at his arm.
Many have criticized officials and politicians for doing such a thing without first consulting the members. Others have even started criticizing the current administration of President Yoon Seok Yeol.
