BLACKPINK announce ‘THE VIRTUAL’ concert in PUBG Mobile game

BLACKPINK surprised everyone by announcing that they will be holding the first K-Pop artist concert in a game. The group and agency YG Entertainment released the official poster for “BLACKPINK X PUBG MOBILE 2022 IN-GAME CONCERT: [THE VIRTUAL]” on Monday, July 11th.

The K-Pop phenomenon’s collaboration with the PUBG Mobile game will be available from July 22-23 and July 29-30 in North and South America and from July 23-24 and 30-31 in the rest of the world.

The group’s performance in the game is expected to provide a unique and new experience for fans. For the show, 3D avatars of the four members were created and a three-dimensional sound system was installed.

BLACKPINK is expected to reveal a special track in association with the game, in addition to the “mega-hits stage” during their “The Virtual” concert. Additionally, the South Korean website naver says that members’ collaboration voice packs, clothing, and key assets such as in-game items will be released in PUBG Mobile.

This is not the first time that BLACKPINK has collaborated on the game. In 2020, the game used audio from the group’s first album, “THE ALBUM“, as background music for “Battleground Mobile“.

We wanted to provide an opportunity for artists and fans to communicate more closely across borders and language barriers. I look forward to getting closer”, YG Entertainment stated.

The project marks the return of the South Korean girl group, which had been inactive for over a year, with the members pursuing solo projects. According to YG, BLACKPINK is expected to shoot a music video later in July and release a song in August.
