Recently Rolling Stone magazine has been heavily criticized for downgrading Jisoo’s importance within the group BLACKPINK, now the magazine is under fire for making comments labeled as xenophobic towards the idol Lisa when talking about the reason why Lalisa has so many fans.
The way they commented on the “Money” performer’s traits aroused BLINK’s anger, as in the past, Manoban has been the victim of numerous xenophobic and racist attacks in Korea because of her Thai ethnicity.
BLACKPINK fans trended the phrase APOLOGIZE TO LISA and in the comments criticized the terrible choice of words when talking about Lisa’s origins and her role within BLACKPINK, as if they were trying to say that she only figures into the group because she is of a different race than the other members.
.
In one piece, they said the following: “Lisa’s unique presence, created by her overwhelming physical charm and exotic appearance…shines through in her identity as a soloist…her pronunciation in these songs is natural enough to prevent the listener from perceiving any problem with her being a foreign member of the group.”
Upon realizing BLINK’s terrible annoyance, Rolling Stone Korea immediately deleted the comment from their website, but it was too late as thousands of screenshots had already been taken, leaving the magazine exposed for making that kind of comment.
