It was recently reported that BLACKPINK’s absence in the music industry negatively impacted YG Entertainment. In the first quarter of 2022 alone, BLACKPINK’s absence was reflected in both the company’s sales and profits.

In the first quarter of 2022, YG Entertainment saw a 22% drop in company sales compared to the same period last year. Moreover, its profits dropped by 36% showing that the lack of BLACKPINK put the company on the verge of bankruptcy.

.

But as soon as it was announced that the girls will return this quarter, the situation has improved for the label. Since the beginning of the year, the girls have mentioned that they were working on new music for this year.

However, no exact date was ever given. During a recent interview, YG’s CEO reported that the comeback is scheduled for the third quarter of 2022, causing fans to speculate that the group will finally return in August.

It was also revealed that once the long-awaited comeback promotions are over, Jennie, Lisa, Rosé and Jisoo will have a world tour, the label’s CEO assured to Korean media.
