During Music Bank‘s broadcast on the afternoon of May 13th, Lim Young Woong‘s “If We Ever Meet Again” and LE SSERAFIM‘s “FEARLESS” were nominated for the first place of the second week of May.

During the announcement, the rookie girl group scored a total of 7881 points, with 5348 points in the programs, 544 points in the music charts, 1955 points in the album/disc and 34 points in the social networking category.

Meanwhile, Lim Young Woong topped with 1148 points in music chart and 5885 points in record/album, but did not score any points in broadcasts. As a result, the national singer came in second place by a narrow margin with a total score of 7,035 points.

When LE SSERAFIM was announced as the winner of this week’s program, the sextet was surprised. They sent their message of thanks to HYBE officials and their fans who supported their pitch.

However some of the male singer’s fans and Korean viewers who heard the news are showing a cold response.

Critics raised suspicions about the “fairness” of the ranking, where a newcomer won against a prominent singer.

People pointed out that compared to the group, Lim Young Woong has sold more than 1.1 million albums, more than LE SSERAFIM’s record of 300,000 sales.

In context, album sales are a huge metric to measure the popularity of an artist, based on the purchasing power of their fan base.
