TXT releases “minisode 2: Thursday’s Child” and aims to have the comeback of the year

TXT released their fourth extended play album “minisode 2: Thursday’s Child“, the rising group has opted for an intense and dark concept that has not been seen before in their discography.

The EP is the group’s first release in nine months, consisting of five songs of various genres that follow the story of a naïve boy growing up after experiencing first love and breakup.

Its title track is “Good Boy Gone Bad,” a hip-hop genre piece combined with rock sounds about a boy who is overcome by a whirlwind of emotions, such as anger and loss, after experiencing the first breakup of his life.

When I first came across the concept for the title track, I thought, ‘What was expected has finally arrived.’ I knew we would do it at some point,” said member Hueningkai during a press conference, held at an auditorium in Seoul, for the promotion of the EP.

The 19-year-old idol added that so far they have featured songs about friendship, finding love and expanding the world, but he believes that breakup is an incident that is inevitable for one’s growth because one learns new emotions through them.

.

Beomgyu added that “when you think of a breakup song, you may think of a song filled with feelings of sadness or missing a love that is gone. But we made our own breakup song through a new, more aggressive interpretation.”

He also said he was a little worried, because it was a concept they were going to try for the first time, but he was more excited than worried, as he had always wanted to do it. TXT participated in composing all the tracks of the new album for the first time since their debut in 2019.

Yeonjun wrote the rap part of the title track and “Lonely Boy,” while Beomgyu was listed as the producer of the last song, “Thursday’s Child Has Far To Go.” Taehyun and Hueningkai worked as the lyricists of “Opening Sequence” and Yeonjun and Taehyun worked on “Trust Fund Baby“. Taehyun was featured as the lyricist and composer of “Thursday’s Child Has Far To Go“.

According to the band’s agency, Big Hit Music, pre-orders for the EP exceeded 1.46 million copies. The band will kick off its first world tour on July 2-3 in Seoul.

It will then fly to the United States for concerts in seven cities, including Chicago, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles, until July 23.
