Camila Cabello vents about how body shaming has affected her mental health

Camila Cabello shared a story to reflect on her Instagram account in which she vented about the criticism she has received in recent times regarding her appearance, her body and how all this has significantly affected her mental health.

“I’ve worn bikinis that were too small and didn’t pay attention to how I looked, then I saw the photos on the internet and the comments and they bothered me a lot“, she wrote in a text posted on Instagram.

The singer, she spoke on the networks on Saturday, April 2nd, about the pressures that she has received on her body after having such a public life. The “Don’t Go Yet” singer revealed that when she was harassed by paparazzi on the beach she felt “super vulnerable and unprepared“.

The post came after a day at a beach club, when she felt the pressure of wanting to look her best on camera, she admitted:

“I tried to pretend they weren’t there, but I couldn’t“, she said.

“I knew I would look ‘good’ in the photos and I would get it, and yet I have never had a worse time at the beach“, she wrote.

“I remember how shocked I was to realize that I was thinking in the culture of other people’s thoughts and not my own“, she said.

As she explained on Instagram, her struggle over her body image has continued ever since. “The messages I get from society ring loud in my own head“.

“Ironically, all the therapy and all the inner work is trying to get back to feeling like my 7 year old self at the beach. I’m mourning her today. Happy, silly, breathing, pretending to be a mermaid, FREE“, she wrote Cabello.
