Avril Lavigne returned to pop-punk on her new album “Love Sux”

Avril Lavigne returned to her pop-punk origins with the release of her album “Love Sux”, the seventh of her career, available on platforms from the early hours of this June 25th. The album includes the participation of blackbear and Machine Gun Kelly, as well as Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, both from Blink-182.

The album complete the traced the freshness of Canadian rock adolescence, more like the experience of an artist who, in 2022, completes her 20-year career since the release of the album “Let Go”, in 2002.

This album is very lively, it’s super fun and I’m super inspired, because I have a lot of fun people around me that I’m working with, like Blackbear, Mark Hoppus, from Blink-182, Travis Barker, MGK, and being out of school and working. With these people you have been very inspiring, you are a great fan of the music of them. I feel so lucky to be able to work with my non-study friends”.

The album is called ‘Love Sux’, and that is because it was like this that I was feeling when I started the album. I only needed a moment to concentrate on myself. This was the first time that I felt like this, and I didn’t worry about being in a relationship. But I am in a good place in my life now and now that the album is very light and it is fun and better than banging two more highs and lows in love”.

“Love Sux” was released three years after the singer’s sixth album, or “Head Above Water”, from 2019, which has deeper songs and melancholy instrumental. Inspired by the new collaborations, Lavigne decided to return to her rock roots in a new project, reflecting on her relationships. In a recent interview, she defined the album as “most alternative in her career”.
