After scoring “Light Switch” among the most listened to songs of the last week on streaming platforms, Charlie Puth already has plans to release his long-awaited third studio album. And everything indicates that the project will reach the public’s ears in 2022!
Riding the wave of the new hit, the American singer recently revealed that most of the creation of his new album was done through TikTok, during the pandemic lockdowns between the years 2020 and 2021. So much so that the artist’s new single was already highly anticipated by fans, as some previews were shared before its debut.
In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, Charlie said that the album is already finished and will be self-titled. According to him, the album will be called “Charlie”.
“I’ll call the album ‘Charlie’. It’s done. I did most of it on TikTok. My goal for this album is for everyone to know the title of each song before it comes out. I love the fact that ‘Light Switch’ has been teased for months, and people are bootlegging it“.

Over the past year, Charlie has really found a social media niche, putting his talents as a songwriter to use in quarantine. There are literally dozens of new song ideas he’s released on TikTok, one of them, of course, becoming “Light Swith”.
“Some producers even took it, went through Isotope, and took acapella, and made their own versions of ‘Light Switch’. I love that. I think music should be twisted and pulled in many different directions. That was just the purpose of this album, and I’m really excited for people to hear it”.
“I didn’t really like any of the songs I released in 2019 and I didn’t want to make an album out of it. It didn’t look very authentic. I felt like I was pretending to be a nice guy. So I ruled that out, and then 2020, of course, happened”.
“It was kind of a year of reset, but I was happy because I really got to build the TikTok thing”, he said.
