Taylor Swift contradicts Damon Albarn’s statement about her compositions and receives an apology

Taylor Swift has called Damon Albarn‘s claim that she doesn’t write her own songs ‘false and very damaging‘. The Blur frontman’s comment was made public in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times. On Monday, January 24, the 32-year-old singer returned to Twitter to respond to Albarn:

“@DamonAlbarn I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this. I write ALL of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and SO damaging.

You don’t have to like my songs but it’s really fucked up to try and discredit my writing. WOW.“, Swift shared with her 89.8 million followers.

“PS I wrote this tweet all by myself in case you were wondering“, the singer added.

Producer Jack Antonoff, who won the Grammy alongside Swift for Folklore (2020), also responded to Albarn’s accusation.

“i’ve never met damon albarn and he’s never been to my studio but apparently he knows more than the rest of us about all those songs taylor writes and brings in. herb.“

Shortly after Swift’s response, the Gorillaz creator responded in a way of apology to his words in the interview, saying that his talk of writing songs was reduced to a headline to get clicks.

“I totally agree with you. i had a conversation about songwriting and sadly it was reduced to clickbait. I apologise unreservedly and unconditionally.
