SHINee’s Taemin changes military enlistment due to depression and anxiety

Taemin, a member of K-Pop group SHINee, will complete his mandatory enlistment in the South Korean army in the area of social services. According to SM, the agency responsible for the artist, he was transferred to take care of his mental health after symptoms of depression and anxiety worsened.

SM reported that Taemin has been transferred from the military band and is now serving as a social worker. As a social worker/public servant, he will be able to return home at the end of the day and will have scheduled days off, including trips to South Korea. With this, he will be able to reconcile work and his treatment without one interfering with the other.

Due to the symptoms of depression and anxiety Taemin had been experiencing prior to [his enlistment], he continued to receive treatment and therapy even while performing his service. However, as his symptoms had recently worsened, the military determined that it was impossible for him to continue his military life and treatment at the same time.

He was transferred to the complementary service. He will be a public servant until the end of his military duty“, the statement said.
