SM Entertainment reported this Sunday that more than 50 million people around the world have enjoyed their free virtual concert celebrating the New Year Eve.
According to SM Entertainment, the online concert “SM Town 2022: SMCU Express” was live through the “Beyond LIVE” channel of the V Live streaming platform of portal Naver, and watched by 51 million people on 161 countries and regions around the world.
That number was higher than the 35.83 million online views of last year’s concert.
SM explained that this year’s event broke last year’s record in terms of online views of a concert held in South Korea.

The musical event took place on the occasion of the New Year in the virtual space of the “Express Station of the SMCU (SM Culture Universe)“, with a “plain” as a backdrop, where all the artists of the agency met. The event was attended by all the artists from SM Entertainment, who lead the “hallyu“, or South Korean wave of K-pop.
