Harry Styles withdrew from performing at the traditional Capital One Beach Bash, a free show that marks the start of the pre-game season at the Orange Bowl in South Beach.
The reason for the cancellation is the high in Covid-19 cases in the region, driven by the omicron variant. The new strain of the virus is already the dominant one in the United States, responsible for 78% of cases, and has already claimed one fatality.
“Due to the growing logistical and production challenges related to the pandemic and after consulting with the artists and their production teams, we made the difficult decision to cancel the Capital One Beach Bash originally scheduled for December 30, 2021 in South Beach in Lummus Park (… ) While we’re disappointed not to host the show, we’re excited for a great Playoff semifinal game at the Capital One Orange Bowl” said the statement.

Besides Styles, artists like DJ Khaled, would perform at the event, which required proof of vaccinations or a negative Covid-19 test taken within the past 72 hours
