This was certainly not the news that Coldplay fans would want to read practically on Christmas Eve. During an interview with Jo Whiley ‘s BBC Radio 2, frontman Chris Martin announced that the band will release no new music after 2025.
“our last proper record will come out in 2025 and after that I think we will only tour. Maybe we’ll do some collaborative things, but the Coldplay catalogue, as it were, finishes then“, he revealed.

Keeping a tone of doubt in the air, Whiley said he wasn’t sure about Chris Martin’s statement.
“He’s always really funny and I’m never sure if he’s joking or being too serious”, argued the presenter. So, what’s your guess?

It all started in February 2021, when BTS sang a cover of Coldplay’s “Fix You” on the “MTV Unplugged” special. It was then that a German DJ named Matthias Matuschik compared BTS to coronavirus, which earned him accusations of racism and xenophobia. An unfortunate comment indeed.
Since that time, BTS and Coldplay have turned completely against this xenophobic positioning.
Therefore, the idea of partnership, which was already being considered, became even stronger. From there came a song that speaks of a single universe of equality, without separations. ()
“As a result, this social conscience found its way into the final product when (the partnership) was finally released, making the collaboration more than just the music itself”, commented Weverse magazine.
