On an episode of JTBC’s “Bistro Shigor,” Beomgyu made his first solo variety show appearance as the show’s first “part-time”.
During a lunch break, Cha In Pyo asked Beomgyu how old he was when he started in the industry, to which Beomgyu replied, “I was almost 17 when I became a trainee.” Jo Se Ho asked Changmin about his own trainee days, and the TVXQ member replied, “I started when I was 16 years old. I also didn’t train for long. I trained for almost a year”.
Beomgyu then asked Changmin, “Did they put you in the debut lineup right away?” Changmin confirmed, “Quite a bit, yes” and Beomgyu shared, “Me too,” prompting Changmin to high five him.
However, Beomgyu revealed, “When I made the first debut lineup, I said I wouldn’t.” When asked why, he explained, “I wasn’t originally planning to become an idol. I originally played guitar, so I was determined to eventually become a member of a band no matter what.”
.
He continued, “Because I was presented with the opportunity [to become a trainee], I thought, ‘Since things turned out like this, I should work hard,’ but all of a sudden they told me I would be in the debut lineup.” Fortunately, Beomgyu changed his mind and finally debuted as a member of TXT in 2019.
