Around here, only big hits! The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa and Olivia Rodrigo formed the Top 5 of the most played artists in radio formats in 2021 in the United States, according to a year-end report by Mediabase . Rounding out the 10 most played on the rankings were Pop Smoke, Doja Cat, 24kGoldn, Ava Max and Drake.
Despite having won the fourth position in the overall ranking of artists, Dua Lipa still had the most played song of the year, with “Levitating”. The same happened with 24kGoldn, with the great highlight with the track “Mood”, which spent weeks at the first place on the Billboard Hot 100, taking second place in this year’s radio tracks chart.
Rounding out the top 10: Weeknd’s “Save Your Tears” at No. 3, followed by Chris Brown and Young Thug’s “Go Crazy”, “Positions” by Grande, a former Weeknd trak, “Blinding Lights”, Silk Sonic “Leave the Door Open, “Doja Cat and SZA “Kiss Me More”, “Kings & Queens” by Max and “Peaches” by Justin Bieber with Daniel Caesar and Giveon.
The rankings by Mediabase, a website specializing in the music industry with chart analysis based on the monitoring of 1836 radio stations in the United States, represent data collected between November 8, 2020 and November 17, 2021. The nine formats surveyed are Top 40, Rhythmic, Urban, R&B, Hot AC, AC, Active Rock, Alternative and Triple A.
