BTS feels an invisible barrier of exclusion as Koreans in the music industry

The boys of BTS feel that there is still an “invisible barrier” in the international music industry, although they have achieved feats in a row.

Kim Namjoon aka RM spoke in a press conference that took place in Los Angeles, that, as South Korean artists, they feel that there is an invisible barrier of identity and language, even though they received the principal award of the year at the American Music Awards and a nomination at the Grammys, which he considers significant.

He stressed that the current “miracle” is the result of the accumulation of a lot of effort and the love of the fans. Regarding their first face-to-face concert after two years, RM said that it is the “beginning of a new chapter.”

He added that the pandemic was a difficult time during the last two years for BTS and ARMY, his legion of fans, emphasizing that, during the concert, he wishes to show how BTS has grown in such a period.

Suga said that he is excited about the Grammy nomination, since he grew up watching the awards. He added that, although it will not be easy to achieve, the group fight the challenge and the barrier to overcome.

Jin expressed his desire to win the award.

.

On the other hand, Jimin mentioned that he is moved by being on stage with the fans and that he feels like he is going back to where he should be. BTS won the Artist of the Year award, considered the top recognition of the AMAs, thanks to their hit “Butter,” becoming the first Asian artist to do so. The AMAs are one of the top three music awards in USA.

In addition, the septet earned a GRAMMY nomination, considered the most important awards in the music industry, for Best Pop Duo / Group Performance, for the second year in a row, although it failed to be nominated in any major category.

The group said that their is successful result is thanks to ARMY, who accompanies the group and has given them the opportunity to be on the music scene for a long time.
