This Thursday, November 18th, SM Entertainment, responsible for the K-Pop group EXO, issued a statement about the removal of Baekhyun‘s videos from the KyoongTube Youtube channel. The artist is currently on compulsory service in the South Korean military service.
Baekhyun has been in the army since April this year and SM has been sharing the artist’s content as a way to repay the fans’ love. According to the agency, however, it will no longer be possible to continue with publications on the KyoongTube channel because the artist is away from professional activities.
There is a law in South Korea that says on-duty soldiers cannot participate in gainful activities or take on extra work during the 18-month period. And Baekhyun unfortunately fits this case.

“We will stop uploading content until the day Baekhyun is discharged from the army. We were posting pre-recorded content once a month during the enlistment period to repay Baekhyun’s fan love.
Although posting content that was recorded and produced prior to enlistment is not against the law, to prevent any confusion we have decided to delete all content that was posted after Baekhyun went to the army.
We ask for the fans’ understanding”, said the agency.
