Many of us are ready to celebrate this time of year with Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want For Christmas Is You“, but not everyone seems to have the same appreciation for the iconic song. Last week, National Review critic Kyle Smith posted a photo of a Texas bar sign with a sheet of paper that reads in capital letters:
“‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ by Mariah Carey will be skipped if played before December 1. After December 1, the song is only allowed once per night“
Smith didn’t name the bar, but said he saw it on a “Dallas jukebox” a few days later, a Twitter user retweeted the post and added the following caption:
“Is this the Christmas war I’ve heard of?“
Carey came across that post and responded with a photo of herself dressed in battle armor holding a sword from a 2015 ad she filmed for the mobile video game “Game of War“. Fans of the singer seemed to enjoy her hilarious response.

The pop star released “All I Want For Christmas Is You” in 1994 and it appears as the second track on her Christmas album “Merry Christmas” It’s arguably Carey’s most popular song now, and the Christmas pop classic is already climbing the iTunes music charts once again and currently sits at No. 48 on the chart.
The singer will also deliver holiday cheer this season with “Mariah’s Christmas: The Magic Continues” a special that will premiere on Apple TV + in December as a follow-up to last year’s “Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special“.
