The HYBE, creator of the company BTS, and Geffen Records subsidiary label of Universal Music Group, are with open auditions throughout the world for creating a new K-Pop girl group. Interested parties can register until November 28th to participate in the tests.
This is the first initiative between an American record company and a K-Pop company to work an artist from the beginning.
The selected girls will be trained within the South Korean industry system, the “trainee” , but based in the United States.
Companies are looking for girls between 15 and 19 years old (or between 16 and 19 years old for EU residents), with singing, dancing, rapping or production skills. Girls must also be willing to move to Los Angeles.
The “trainee” process, according to the call, will also include psychological treatment and economics and management classes, “to deal with a rewarding and sustainable career”.

In other releated news, Minwoo, a former member of the Boyfriend group, recorded a video telling how life is like a trainee. Minwoo recalls that one of the hardest parts was the monthly tests.
There, they had to prove their worth or the entire effort would go down the drain.
“There is such a thing as a ‘monthly test.’ At each monthly test, the heads of the company decide who to put in the group or what concept the group should follow.
Your debut depends on the monthly test, so everyone works very hard“, he said.
“During the monthly test, some of the trainees drop out and some just leave because of stress and difficulty” he blurted out.
