THE BOYZ is embroiled in a Dior brand plagiarism controversy

The K-Pop group THE BOYZ recently made his comeback with mini-album “THRILL-ING” and launched the title track “Thrill Ride” with a modern and luxurious costumes. What no one expected is that the group would get involved in a plagiarism controversy with the Dior brand.

According to the website Koreaboo, the stylist responsible for THE BOYZ is being accused of copying Dior Homme’s style. The looks were used by the artists last week during the show “M COUNTDOWN” for the performance of “Thrill Ride”.

Soon after, fans and the South Korean community noticed similarities between the designer’s clothes and Dior’s products, in particular Hyunjae’s blouse and Q’s jacket.

Both pieces feature a collegiate-style design comprised of a laurel wreath with the word “THRILL-ING” emblazoned over it in a red varsity font with the word “THRILL” written upside down. Smaller white letters around the circumference show the lyrics of the song, “We thrill-thrilling out“, and the space between the laurel branches reads, “TBZ“.

When you compare the design to the Dior Homme Spring-Summer 2018 menswear collection, it’s impossible to ignore the similarities. Both designs include a laurel wreath outline, similar letters in red varsity (including the word upside down), and smaller white letters around the exterior.

The only difference is the designer’s design featuring the words “Christian Dior”, “LATE NIGHT”, and “PARIS”.

It is important to remember that THE BOYZ was involved, but the group has no direct relationship with the controversy.

The agency Cre.ker Entertainment has not yet commented on the charges against the stylist.

In other releated news with THE BOYZ made their comeback on August 9 with their sixth mini album “THRILL-ING” and its accompanying title track “THRILL RIDE.”

Hanteo Chart announced, on August 16, that the album had sold an impressive total of 523,630 copies in the first week of its release (August 9 to 15) surpassing THE BOYZ’s previous first-week sales record of 212,666 set by their mini album “CHASE.”
