EXO’s Kai says he thinks about retiring at 29 from the K-pop music industry. EXO’s Kai participated this Monday, August 9, in an episode of the popular South Korean show “Udo Innkeeper”. At that moment, he said that he expected that he has already considered retiring from the music industry at age 29. Today the artist is 27 years old.
Speaking with veteran artists Tak Jae Hoon and Lee Suk Hoon, the EXO member explained that in the past he had heard that the “lifespan” of idols was five to seven years. However, the K-Pop group that Kai is a part of is nearing its 10th anniversary in 2022.
“They used to say that we would not be more than 10 years old. But we [EXO] are now in our 10th year. When I was 20 years old, I thought that my retirement would be at 29.” He then asked Tak Jae Hoon, “When did you think you were going to retire?” And the artist replied: “There is no retirement, naturally you disappear.”

“But who could control the time? I think everyone has their own individual life.” EXO’s new album has more than a million copies sold in a week. After almost two years of waiting, the boys of group EXO made their long-awaited comeback in June with the mini album “Don’t Fight The Feeling” and have already proven their strength in the music industry.
Unsurprisingly, the group topped South Korea’s Gaon chart, equivalent to Billboard in the United States (compiling physical and digital album sales, to demonstrate a more accurate analysis of the country’s physical album market) with a number impressive: 1,089,681 units sold in just one week.
As a result, “Don’t Fight The Feeling” is EXO’s sixth album to surpass one million unit sold mark in South Korea, a record, according to the boys’ record label, SM Entertainment.
