After missing a series of performances, DaBaby wrote an Instagram post apologizing for the homophobic and serophobic comments he made both online and at a concert in Miami. He said it was the fault of his lack of information, but he also took the opportunity to complain about the “cancellation” that he suffered.

Social media moves so fast that people want to destroy you before you have a chance to grow, educate yourself, and learn from your mistakes. As a man who came out of many difficult circumstances, having people I know working against me, knowing that he needed guidance and education on these issues, has been challenging. I am grateful to the many people who have graciously reached out to me, who have approached me privately to offer wisdom, education, and resources. It is what I needed and received. I want to apologize to the LGBTQ + community for the hurtful and triggering comments I made. Again, I apologize for my ignorant comments about HIV / AIDS and I know that education is important. Love for everyone. God bless you” he wrote.

The rapper’s offensive comments were during a concert at Miami’s Rolling Loud Festival on July 25, DaBaby blurted out:

If you haven’t presented with HIV, AIDS or any of these sexually transmitted diseases today, he turns on the flashlight on his cell phone. Guys, if you ain’t sucking cock in the parking lot, turn on your cell phone flashlight

Then DaBaby appeared on Instagram to explain herself. He said his performance on the show was distorted and evaluated out of context in a six-second video. But he again made a discriminatory speech.

Even my gay fanatics, they don’t fucking have AIDS, you idiots. They do not have AIDS. My gay fans take care of themselves. They avoid it. They are not disgusting homosexuals. They are not addicts. My gay fans have class. They are not idiots in a parking lot. You have to get a room. A good one, in a five-star hotel. Even my gay fans have standards” he shot.

Artists such as Dua Lipa, Elton John, Demi Lovato and Madonna spoke out on the case, criticizing the rapper’s speeches.
