“Empathy” contains eight songs, of which big stars were part. While D.O wrote the title track “Rose“, DAY6 member Jae participated in the composition of “I’m Fine“, and “My Love” alongside producers Andreas Ringblom and 220. On the other hand, the Korean lyric group “Danke” who already worked with BTS and NCT 127, also worked on “I’m Gonna Love You“.
In a live Q&A hosted by his company SM Entertainment, D.O expressed that he was focused on making the kind of music he had wanted, since it is his first solo album. He also opted for acoustic guitar sounds that are his favorites. “This is a pretty new frame of mind for me,” commented the idol, clarifying that.

“Singing alone was difficult in a way, but it was a different and fun experience.” Regarding the name of the album “Empathy”, he explained that he realized the pure energy that the word conveyed and, having been undecided, made the decision and chose it. “I wanted to share the good, affect the energy to others as well, that’s why I chose that title,” he declared.
