After releasing her first single, “Don’t Go Yet”, Camila Cabello soon revealed the title of her third solo studio album: it will be “Familia”. She explained that the concept has a lot to do with quarantine and the time she spent closest to her family in Miami, which inspired her a lot.
“‘Don’t Go Yet’ is the first song on my next album, ‘Familia’. This album was inspired by two things: family and food. His blood family, but also his chosen family. Who do you want to sit at the dinner table, drink wine and dance with in the living room” she explained on Twitter.
Already betting heavily on promotion, Camila Cabello gave an interview to Zane Lowe at Apple Music and talked about this concept of the album “Familia”.
“I want it to be that kind of family in an intimate way, because that makes me happy” Camila shared.
“It would make my life better and that’s what I want, so that’s what I was trying to express with this whole album.”
“And I think ‘Don Don’t Go Yet’ is just me being free, sonically and melodically. I think being in Miami for so long and having more family around me and speaking more Spanish made me have feelings, I don’t know, it just brought me back” she explained.
“I think my roots went down in a way that I really needed to. And I think this album for me was a manifestation.”

Despite all the suffering, the Covid-19 pandemic had the good side of being able to calm down and get closer to the family .
“Obviously [COVID] was a terrible thing, but I think for my personal life and my hair, it was great to slow down” she said.
“And then I thought, ‘Oh, this is…’ I don’t know. I kind of learned to be someone developing interests and passions outside the studio and outside of music.
”
“And I think it brought me a lot closer to my family”
“So I think this was a chance for me to really work and consciously invest in what I think makes me and human beings truly happy, which is their relationships and their connection to the people around them.” Camila adds.
