On July 19, Kris Wu broke his silence and released a statement from his personal and verified Weibo account denying all allegations against him. This is the English translation of the former K-pop idol’s letter:

I did not respond before because I did not want to disturb the legal processes, but I did not believe that my silence would encourage the escalation of false rumors. I cannot contain myself any longer!

I only saw Miss Du once on December 5, 2020 in a group meeting.

I didn’t get her drunk, I didn’t ask for her phone number, nor did any of the ‘details’ she described happen. There were many people there who can testify. I deeply apologize for disturbing everyone. Let me just say, there was never an ‘abuse of power’! There was also no drug rape or gang rape. Not anything related to ‘minors’!

If there had been this type of action, rest assured that I would put in jail myself.”

After Kris Wu came out to tell the version of his on Weibo, his agency announced a lawsuit against all people who release unfounded rumors about the Chinese artist. This is the English translation of Kris Wu Studios:

We reject libelous comments and the dissemination of harmful information online. Don’t use sensitive topics to maliciously fan public sentiment! We are taking legal action and have reported a case. We believe in the justice of the law to reveal the truth“.
