The 2021 Grammy Awards have been canceled according to Rolling Stone

The 2021 Grammy Awards were scheduled for January 31. Now it was postponed due to concerns about Covid-19 in the United States.

This was reported by the medium Rolling Stone. The organizers have not confirmed a new date; but sources say that the event will take place in March.

The Grammys are already planned for this 2021, with no audience and only allowing presenters and performers on-site during the show.

The artists who were nominated are not allowed to be at the event either. This would likely have led to a similar situation to the 2020 Emmys where nominees appeared and accepted awards remotely.

The 2021 Grammy nominations were led by Beyoncé, who garnered 9 nominations, while Dua Lipa; Taylor Swift and Roddy Ricch followed with 6 nods each.

It’s unclear if original host Trevor Noah will still host this year’s show. (Representatives for Noah and the Recording Academy did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Rolling Stone.)

The US state of California has seen an increase in Covid-19 cases after Thanksgiving and the holiday season. It set a new single-day record of 74,000 new cases on January 4; according to data from the Los Angeles Times. In Los Angeles, the hospital system has shrunk so much that Covid-19 patients are often forced to wait in ambulances for hours until hospital beds are opened.

While the Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services Agency has ordered ambulance crews to ration oxygen and not transfer patients who have virtually no chance of survival. At the moment the news about the Grammys is in development and the Music Mundial team are aware to bring you the news as quickly and as truthfully as possible.
