Fans fear Little Mix is at the “beginning of the end” following the announcement of Jesy Nelson’s departure on Monday, December 14. The website Express published an article on the subject:
“The group’s fans are really devastated, but they understand that Jesy’s health must come first.”
Many of Little Mix’s dedicated listeners have already started to wonder if the trio will disband entirely in the coming months. Same happened with Fifth Harmony and One Direction, band who also saw one member leave before their full breakup. In 2015, Zayn Malik announced that he was leaving One Direction due to the ‘stress of fame’ to ‘live the normal life of a 22-year-old boy’.
“Months after Zayn left, One Direction went on indefinite hiatus,”
The article wrote. The group, despite fans’ fear, shows no signs of wanting to part ways soon. The trio recently made their first performance after Jesy Nelson’s hiatus so far on the television show “Strictly Come Dancing.”
In an interview in November, Jade Thirwall said that “Little Mix will not die.”
“We always say that: we always need Little Mix. I think it’s great that people are starting to do their thing. I definitely want to travel more and see more fans around the world,”
added Jade.
In the open letter announcing the departure of Jesy Nelson, Little Mix also assured that it will continue. The trio is scheduled to tour the UK in 2021, with concerts between April and May.
“We are still really enjoying our Little Mix journey and the three of us are not quite ready for it to end,”
the group wrote.
Jesy Nelson said the group will continue without her, with plans to make more songs.
“I hope they keep making all their dreams come true and keep making songs that people love,” she wrote in his official farewell.
