Billie Eilish reveals she tried to kill herself after hate comments became too much

Last year, the album by brilliant young singer Billie eilish sold more than any other album in United States and hit six billion streams in Spotify. This year she has become the youngest artist to win all four main categories at Grammys at the same time.

In an interview with GQ British we met the star who speaks for a generation and that has come of age locked up. We find intelligence, openness and wounds that time has not yet healed. She spoke about being ashamed of applauses, her body image and the terrible scrutiny of the social networks that brought her to the thought of suicide.

Any teenager, parent or teacher who grows up in the era of social media can confirm it, the bullying online is perhaps the greatest danger to mental health faced by young people living in a digital world, where new technologies are increasingly finding incomparable connectivity and Eilish lives it daily.

Oh God. It’s amazing… I almost killed myself on Twitter a couple years ago” The singer said with glassy eyes. “All I’ve ever wanted is to be on stage and have people cheering me on. In addition to a brief period of around three or four years, when all I wanted to do was talk about God, and music has been at the center of my life.” The artist revealed that this led to a severe depression, but now she feels better than ever. “I went through a period of wanting to be like everybody else.
